So I relentlessly applied what I was learning in my classes, and failed. I was absolutely terrified in my first art class, and felt like everyone else was already miles ahead of me in the quality of their work. The last art class I took was in middle school, and never really had any real training other than my daydreaming doodles in all those K-12 classes that are just oh so entertaining. I silently changed my major to Digital Animation. Then I started working at KSU creating videos and motion graphics, and I fell in love with After Effects. In my early twenties I started feeling like I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, I figured I’d go to college for computer science and at least get a “real” job. Thank you for seeing something in me back then. She said back then that I was going to be an artist, but I didn’t believe her. I want to give a big shout out to one of my high school teachers, Mrs. Professor Chamberlain and Professor Malone have been supportive throughout my time in the program, and I can’t thank them enough. I want to say thank you to my parents, my brothers, family, and friends for being supportive of me on this venture. I like to keep the premise as simple as possible whenever I work on personal projects. My goal with this was to go for a comedy without the use of dialogue. After a few obstacles and some help from a cookie, he was able to save My senior film, "Teddy Bear Rescue," is about a child rescuing their friend from anĮvil chicken. That made me love animation all over again. The art of storyboarding, filming oneself to get a certain body movement right, the rhythm of the scene, etc. I was in for an awakening that there was more to animation than just putting a line to paper. resumeĪs much as I loved cartoons as a child, I didn’t delve into the medium until I entered the art program in the middle of my college years. I hope one day I can spark the same level of emotion in my viewers as well. The animations produced by this artist displace emotion. One of my favorite artists to study from at this moment is Kou Yoshinari with his sense of artistic style has sparked my interest in animation. I study fluidity in words, color schemes in designs, and the creativity geniuses behind the design. My perspective has shifted greatly from the Digital Animation arts as I’ve focused on a much broader horizon. Animation styles I tend to focus on usually involve motion design, but I often dabble with logo design and typography. I spend a vast amount of time studying, analyzing the graphic arts. Now that I am older and a much more experienced artist, I spend time designing concepts from older Chinese cartoons and Japanese artist. Hello, I am Amir Rhodes, A senior digital animation major with a passion for graphic design. As I head out into the unknown, I will continue to touch the hearts of my audience in as many ways as I can. Many are just too afraid to highlight the bad parts of life. Afterall, every experience we have, be it fantastical or horrific, is still just a part of life as it exists. I will never shy away from illustrating or animating the raw emotion I want viewers to experience. Animal rights and mental health have always been topics I have been passionate about, and I frequently include them in my artwork. I wanted the audience to instantly side with the animals in my film and cheer her on as she tries to escape to freedom. The film follows the life of a mother chihuahua as the audience gets a brief glimpse of her life as a breeding dog at a puppy mill. I wanted to both raise awareness of puppy mills and evoke sympathy for the characters in my film as they represent real animals who have suffered, including my own dog who was rescued from a mill herself. Many of the scenes I included reference real things I have seen while researching breeding mills. I wanted to leave behind me a film that would make people more aware of animal abuse situations which are tied to pet stores and the pet industry. When I first came up with the concept for my film, “Mother”, I kept all these things in mind. Safer place for all living things, then I have found success as an artist. Out a message to the masses that can help make the world a more understanding and If I can emotionally move people, make them think, or send Now that I am older, nothing brings me more joy than to share the stories Worlds, meeting creatures, and having epic battles with imaginary characters in myīackyard.
